Automated Cheese Packaging Line

Sorting 100 units of cheese per minute

Automation is becoming increasingly important in the FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) industry.

With global logistical issues, availability demands and recruitment challenges, more and more businesses are looking to secure an effortless and efficient automated solution for their production and logistical facilities.

One of our suppliers, Alway Loughborough, who design, manufacture and install stainless steel equipment and machinery, asked our technical services team to support them on their recent project where they manufactured and installed a cheese packaging line for a leading national cheese producer.

Whilst our primary business focus is being a “one-stop shop” for our clients, providing end-to-end project management and business improvement solutions. We also offer various individual services where we can step in to fill a technical gap or where a specialised skill or expertise is required.

On this project, we were required to provide the automation software and panel wiring design on a cheese packaging line that can sort up to 100 segments of cheese a minute!

Alway Loughborough chose us for our expertise in the FMCG industry and automation and provided us with specifications.

The automation required was to sort units of cheese from a primary conveyor belt into four efficient packing lanes, maximising product flow ready for packaging.

Our team provided onsite support and aided with the sit installation and all functional testing.

The result enabled our supplier, Alway, to deliver the project on time and to scope and provided the cheese manufacturer with a packaging line solution that increased product turnaround time and improved efficiency.
